Outreach intern report: Learning about freshwater ecosystems with youth, by Olivia Miller

My name is Olivia Miller and I’m a student at Bozeman High School. In early June of 2019 I got the opportunity to work with the wonderful Rose Vallor studying streams in Bozeman, Montana with the Peaks and Potentials camp at Montana State University.

In partnership with the MSU Science Math Resource Center and the Montana Afterschool Alliance, we are pleased to offer support to attend the 2019 Montana Afterschool Alliance annual conference (Aug. 8-9 in Bozeman) to two out-of-school educators from Montana towns of 2,500 and under.

The Reverse Site Visit is required in Year 2 of an RII Track-1 project. Montana is scheduled to meet with NSF On April 3, 2025.The RSV is a review/evaluation conducted by teams of external reviewers and the NSF staff.

Plants and Pollinators Palooza

The MSU Science Math Resource Center and Montana NSF EPSCoR will be hosting a Plants and Pollinators Palooza at the Bozeman Public Library on Saturday May 10th from 10 am till 1 pm. The Palooza will contain short presentations from the Bumble Bee Atlas project as well as the Montana Native Plant Society’s citizen botany project. There will be an educational overview of both projects as well as an outdoor component putting into practice what participants have learned about plants and pollinators.
