Montana Innovators joined Governor Schweitzer and MSU President Waded Cruzado on August 28th for a high-level panel discussion about investing in and fostering Montana’s innovation-driven economy, followed by an awards dinner celebrating select Montana companies for excellence in innovation. Panelists included Dan Berglund, President and CEO of the State Science and Technology Institute, a non-profit organization that leads, supports, and strengthens efforts to improve state and regional economies through science, technology and innovation, Joe Fanguy, Chief Commercialization Officer at the University of Montana, and Rebecca Mahurin, Director of the Technology Transfer Office at Montana State University.

“E” in EPSCoR changed from experimental to established
The American Innovation and Competitiveness Act (AICA) (S. 3084) signed Jan 7, 2017 changed the “E” in EPSCoR. (Sec. 103) The bill renames the Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research as the Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) and revises program requirements.
IoE Associates Awarded Federal Funding for Environmental Research
UM Associate Professor, Tony Ward, received a National Institute of Health Science Education Partnership Award to develop inquiry-based science lessons that will prepare middle and high school students to conduct research studies on air pollutants. 2023 NSF EPSCoR Track-1 Solicitation
NSF has released the solicitation for the 2023 RII Track-1. RII Track-1 awards provide up to $20 million total over five years to support research-driven improvements to jurisdictions’ physical and cyber infrastructure and human capital development in topical areas selected by the jurisdiction’s EPSCoR steering committee as having the best potential to improve future R&D competitiveness.
